Terms of Use

Effective August 4, 2026 · Last updated August 4, 2026

Read this part even if you skip the rest. GridNerd reports on and analyzes energy regulation. It is not legal advice, not investment advice, and not engineering advice, and reading it creates no attorney–client or advisory relationship. Regulatory matters turn on specific facts and deadlines. Before you act, check the primary source and talk to your own counsel or advisor.

1. Agreement

These terms govern your use of gridnerd.com and the Texas Large Load Brief (together, "GridNerd"), published by STACHOLD GROUP LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company ("we," "us"). By using the site or subscribing to the Brief, you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use it.

2. What GridNerd is

GridNerd is an independent publication covering Texas energy regulation — principally proceedings at the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the ERCOT stakeholder process. We summarize public filings and proceedings and offer analysis of what they mean.

3. Not advice

Nothing in GridNerd is legal, financial, investment, tax, or engineering advice, and nothing in it is a recommendation to take or refrain from any action, transaction, or filing. We are not your lawyer, your consultant, or your advisor.

Regulatory positions change, dockets move, and deadlines are unforgiving. Always verify against the primary source — the filing, the order, the docket — before relying on anything you read here. We link them for exactly that reason.

4. Accuracy

We work hard to be accurate and we cite our sources. We do not warrant that GridNerd is complete, current, or error-free. Content reflects our understanding on the date of publication; we are under no obligation to update a past issue as matters develop. See our corrections policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

Forwarding is fine. Sending an issue to a colleague, quoting a paragraph with a link back, or citing us in your own work is welcome and encouraged. The line is between sharing and republishing.

6. Intellectual property

The written content, analysis, charts, and design of GridNerd are owned by STACHOLD GROUP LLC and protected by copyright. The "GridNerd" name and logo are our marks.

Underlying public records — PUCT filings, ERCOT documents, statutes — are public and are not claimed by us. Third-party names and marks mentioned in coverage (including ERCOT and the PUCT) belong to their owners and are used descriptively; their use does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement by them. GridNerd is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to ERCOT, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, or any other agency or entity we cover.

7. Third-party links

We link heavily to primary sources and other sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

GridNerd is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site or the Brief will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, STACHOLD GROUP LLC and its members, officers, and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenues, data, or business opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of GridNerd — including any decision made or action taken in reliance on it.

Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to GridNerd will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or US $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

10. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of GridNerd or your breach of these terms.

11. Termination

We may suspend or end your access to the Brief at any time, for any reason — for example, abuse of the acceptable-use rules above. You may leave at any time by unsubscribing.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Natrona County, Wyoming, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

13. Changes

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change. Continuing to use GridNerd after an update means you accept the revised terms.
